U.S. Federal Courthouse

Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Sited on the Cedar River in Cedar Rapids, IA, this U.S. Federal District Court will house District, Magistrate, and Bankruptcy Courts, supporting clerk’s facilities and various other ancillary facilities, including chambers for three Appellate Court Judges and Congressional offices. The design of the new U.S. Courthouse in Cedar Rapids, Iowa creates a powerfully civic building that is also intimately connected to its immediate riverfront site and the City of Cedar Rapids at large. The Courthouse’s transparent 7-story glass façade expresses the public nature of the judicial process and makes the building’s internal organization clear and accessible, while a 7-story interior limestone wall conveys seriousness of purpose, order, and stability. Courtrooms and facilities for the District, Magistrate and Bankruptcy Courts will be provided, as well as for other federal agencies.
